Argh. What happens when all of the characters in your head decide they're too busy doing their own thing to cooperate with your story? Ahhh!!!

They're all in a domestic mood at the moment.

Writer: I want some action!!! There's still a galaxy to save! A coup to overthrow! Aliens to be defeated! Hello? What are you all doing? Vila, stop feeding Corinne! Avon, stop hiding in the lab! What are you doing in there with Cally? Argus, you have to let go of Reya sometime and do your leadership thing. You can't do it holding her. And no, I don't think it will stop her. Hello? Anyone listening? What about the story?

I usually figure the characters know what they're doing and write what they're willing to do. :^)

But they're being domestic. I will not have domestic at this point in the story! There are priorities! Don't encourage them.

Vila, stop it! There are other things you can do with Corinne. No!! Not those things! You've just met several days ago! Argh!

I mean, I'd let them get it out of their system in a story that doesn't have to go with the rest. Maybe they just want a holiday for Christmas, with no angst or worries. :^)

Well, I guess I have been hard on them lately. Avon is sort of sulking. Vila has no excuses though. But I think he has different issues. The next story is supposed to be a light one. But they have to get to it first!

I think they're pulling a sit-down strike on you. If you don't give in to their demands they'll all be sulking in unison.

Oh no. I can just see it. Avon will be giving lessons just to annoy me.

Can't be a star if you're dead, Avon. And admit it, you love the attention.

Good idea. Make a clone and throw him to Servalan for a change. Cally and I are off to Gardenos to bask on the shore.

I knew it. Give you one chapter where you're all over each other and that's the thanks I get.

What is it with the men? Why do they all want to get domestic on me? Don't you want to do other stuff?

Well, if all the other options didn't involve agony and humiliation, they might have a certain appeal.

But Avon, you do the suffering so well. And you have Cally. And you're the star. But you just can't spend all your time with her.

Why not? Give me a few months on Gardenos and see what happens. Perhaps I'd look good with a tan.

Yes, you look good with or without anything (on). And yes, I'm talking about a tan.

How about a compromise. You don't have to do any suffering in the next story. We can negotiate about Gardenos and the length of time. How about a Gardenos-substitute?

Mmmm... no suffering in the next story, and a plentiful supply of coffee. Real coffee, none of that ersatz 'caffeine substitute'.

Hehe. It's been great fun. Thanks =) Yes, they're starting to talk to me again. I guess Avon put them up to it because he was sulking.

Oh the left/right brain thing. The theory is that the right brain controls the left side of your face and visa versa. So unless the actor is deliberately doing a completely non-reactive face. The left side of the face will show more emotion than the right. This is most noticeable during emotional scenes.

I'm going to sleep now too.

I bet no one's ever checked it out. Bit difficult until recently as so many lefties were taught to disguise their handedness.

I sometimes suspect PD of having been born a lefty.

Edit: Must be time for bed when I forget which journal I'm using. :^) Good night.

Hmm. I don't know if handedness plays a factor or how sound the theory is. But so far I've noticed that either both sides reflect emotions and non-emotions. Or the left side more. I haven't seen the right side show more emotion yet. I should do more screen caps.

Night =)

I have no idea if this has any actual scientific basis, but we were taught in drama school that if you want to release emotions, it helps to do something with your left hand - pick up a prop, or fiddle with your buttons or something.

That's interesting. It does sound indicative doesn't it? I guess your drama teacher never gave you any explanations?

He said it was because the right side of the brain was responsible for emotions, but, like most theatre people, he wasn't exactly up-to-date on developments cognitive neuropsychology, so it might be b*llocks!

(no subject)

Date: 2008-12-19 03:49 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kalinda001.livejournal.com
That is what I've read. The right side is more responsible for emotions. The left side is generally the logic centre of the brain. But I'm not up to the most current developments either. Have you seen research indicating otherwise?

Did his advice work? Of course it might just be the power of suggestion if it did...

It's nearly Christmas so I guess they figured they needed a holiday.

Cheat, use the other characters to move the story on.
