I'm not sure why Vila felt naked, when he's been out in the open air on lots of planets. This one seems greener and nicer than most of the bare, rocky ones he's been to.
And if I were him, I'd want to leave the ship and stay. :-) This is paradise. Is the economic basis communist in the true sense: from each according to their skills, and to each according to their needs? I suppose society itself frowns on excess, like owning hundreds of outfits. I'm interested in how they maintain quality and aesthetics though, and under most communism (and I observed a very human-scale form on kibbutzim) most products are fairly utilitarian. Do they instead instil a sense of everyone being an artisan / artist instead?
