That all sounds good! And I do understand that affectionate put-down humour as my friends and I used it a lot, to the puzzlement of onlookers who thought we disliked each other.

Avon and Vila had a great relationship up to S3 when Vila became a spare part and started his downward spiral into depression and drink. Yes, you do see flashes of their old friendship in Orbit and at the end of Ultraworld, and if their witty put-downs (on both sides, I might add) disappeared, neither of them would be the characters we know and love. I write them both so often because I love the complexities of that relationship.
